My Husband Didn't Accomplish Anything in 2024

In partnership with

Hey IT Pros,

A LinkedIn post went viral this week for all the wrong reasons. You might have seen it: a tech “founder” publicly criticizing her husband for having "zero accomplishments" in 2024.

No certifications. No courses completed. No awards. No promotions.

And she asked, "How do you do that?!"

What really matters in IT careers?

In my opinion, her post reveals some toxic mindsets that might be holding us all back.

🤔 The Reality Check:

  • Not every valuable IT pro has a wall of certificates

  • Some of the best engineers I know focus on stable systems, not shiny awards

  • Real accomplishments often don't fit in a LinkedIn post

💡 What Actually Matters:

  • Systems that don't crash at 3 AM

  • Problems solved before they become emergencies

  • Teams that trust your judgment

  • Users who aren't calling the help desk

  • Work life balance and spending time with those you love

What do you think? Could you go a year without collecting new certifications and still feel proud of your work?

Hit reply and let me know.

Best,

Stetson
